Dear Juno and anyone else who may find themselves in this situation,

My name is Matt, I am a 17 year old senior at Foothill Technology High School, and I have the utmost respect for your decision.
First off, I think it was very unwise of you to have sex while you’re still a teen. I very much doubt you were thinking things through when you were with Bleeker that night. On top of that, the sex you had was unprotected. You guys could have used a condom, or a pill, or both, but you didn’t. I think that’s just plain irresponsibility on your and Bleeker’s part. This is why I think there needs to be a better sex education system in schools, so that teen pregnancies like this don’t happen.
Once you found out you were pregnant, I think you handled the situation fairly well, and I think you made the best choice available in giving the baby to Vanessa. You weren’t in a position to raise a child, you were aware of that, and you decided to give your baby to someone who was prepared and loving. Of course, you did have the choice of abortion, but you chose not to do that. I agree with the 14th amendment giving women the right to choose. Although I think an abortion is a horrible, unfortunate thing, I think it is necessary. If abortion were illegal, desperate women would be getting “back alley” abortions, which is very dangerous, because they are done by people who may not be medically trained, and be used with unsafe equipment. If I were in your situation, I would leave the decision ultimately up to the girl who I got pregnant, although I would advise her to give it up for adoption, because I don’t think either of us would be ready to raise a child at this point in our lives.
I think you made the right decision in your given situation, but I urge you to be more responsible in the future, and think about all of the consequences that come with your actions.

Wishing you the best,
Matt
